Gerald Glover is a Chicago Firefighter on Tower Ladder 34 and a defensive end on the Blaze.
Gerald Glover is a Chicago Firefighter. Gerald is assigned to Tower Ladder 34, one of the busiest fire companies in Chicago. Tower Ladder 34 is located on Chicago’s Southeast Side, at 79th and South Chicago.
Gerald is a former Julian Jaguar. Gerald brings the athleticism he has always had to the Fire Department every third day. Now on the days in between, he is terrifying the Blaze quarterbacks in practice. Gerald is a defensive end on the Blaze.
Gerald is a committed firefighter, and former star athlete. He is excited to return to competitive football. As a firefighter in the Chicago’s 6th District, you do get to maintain your physical fitness, so the transition back is only a matter of your body remebering football moves.
When we talked to the men Gerald worked with, we were told how tough he is at a fire, and great around the house. We also learned that they would not line up against him.
This is the Blaze first season in the NPSFL, but the quarterbacks in the league are going to recognize Gerald Glover’s name before the first season is in the history books.
The picture to the right is Gerald paying respect with our Fire Department Family at the funeral service of a Brother who died in the line of duty. William Grant, a firefighter on Truck 51 took his last call on Friday, March 23rd, 2007.
This picture of Gerald in Class A uniform is a reminder of our sacrifice, and an inspiration for the volunteers involved in the NPSFL. All the teams in our league play for charities that support the families that have made the ultimate sacrifice, like Bill Grant’s family. Our fire department charities, like Ignite the Spirit, the Gold Badge Society and Chicago Firefighters Local 2 Stewards Fund provide support for our widows and families.
The Blaze is playing on March 20th at against the Illinois Firehawks, and the game will be at Lane Tech H.S., kick off at 1pm. Treat yourself to the first organized game that the Blaze will play as they prepare for the CPD Enforcers. The CPD Enforcers game will be April 10th, and you will need to get your tickets in advance, if you want to be sure to get in to Brother Rice Field, in Oak Lawn.
