The Inland Empire Enforcers traveled to Chicago from Southern California to play the CFD Blaze last night, Saturday, April 24th, 2010. The game was played at Lane Tech, and was a home game for the Chicago Fire Department ffotball team. Kickoff was 7:30 pm. The night was a typical Chicago April evening, cool and wet, great weather for football.
Our Blaze did not let down the family, friends and fans that attended the game. The Blaze defeated the Inland Empire Enforcers 26-13. This victory is the second win for the Blaze, which is in its first season. The first was a scrimmage vs the Chicago Falcons of the GMFL. The game versus the Inland Empire Enforcers was a semi-pro football game, a non NPSFL game.
The Inland Empire Enforcers are a semi-pro football team from Southern California. They primarily play other California semi-pro football teams. The Enforcers are made up of public safety employees, and play for football for charity. The Enforcers are strictly made up of volunteers, police, firefighters, EMS, and are a part of a community charitable organization, Cops N Jocks. The Blaze are playing football for firefighter charities like Ignite the Spirit.
The first official game in the NPSFL that the Blaze played was the First Responder Bowl, whcih will become a Chicago tradition. It was the Fire Department football team vs the Chicago Police Department football team, the CPD Enforcers. The CFD Blaze lost this contest in a well played game, 21-14 to the Chicago Police. The Blaze NPSFL record remains 0-1, but the team is looking great is is preparing for a road trip to play Phoenix Thunder, who were the 2006 NPSFL Champions.
The Blaze play the Phoenix Thunder in Phoenix on May 8th. This will be the first time the Blaze have travelled, and we wish them well, and hope they bring a victory back home to Chicago!
