In a well played Chicago football game, the Chicago Police Enforcers defeat the Firefighters on the CFD Blaze 21-14 at Brother Rice, on Saturday afternoon in the inaugural Gold Star Bowl.
Saturday, April 10th may have demonstrated to all of us that God is a football fan. The weather at kick off could not have been more beautiful, in Oak Lawn at Brother Rice Field. The Chicago Police Department and the Chicago Fire Department were kicking off under sunny skies, in front of thousands of fans and supporters, and a great day was had by all.
The preparation for this game, “the Chicago Gold Star Bowl’” has taken months of hard work from both the police and fire teams. The CFD Blaze was mentored into the NPSFL by the Chicago Police, the CPD Enforcers. The Police team has been in the NPSFL for 5 years. To finally have a firefighter football team that could compete with the police annually took a lot of effort from the fire department football team organizers, as well as the already well established police department football team.

This is the first official game for the fire department in the National Public Safety Football League, and it was a loss to the CPD Enforcers in a well played, hard fought game. The CPD Enforcers 21, CFD Blaze 14. Saturday, April 10th 2010 will be forever remembered as the first official game for the Chicago Fire Department Football Team. The Gold Star Bowl will become an annual Chicago tradition, and with some hard work, the firefighter football team may be able to even up the record next April.
There was a wonderful turnout at Brother Rice field in Oak Lawn, Illinois. The family, friends and fans were not disappointed by the game or weather. Both the police football team and firefighter football team have been practicing hard. The football players were playing for their respective charities. The CFD Blaze played for firefighter charities, and the CPD Enforcers played for thier police charities.
We used a couple of great photo’s from Katie Ryan Photography. Please visit her site and discover the wonderful work she does. I am personally considering a second wedding, just so she can photograph it, before I lose my hair. Maybe I’ll just have her follow Joy and I around on a vacation.
If you were at the game, and have anything memorable or interesting to share, please leave some comments. tell us what happened, and what was your favorite part of the game and of the day.
Congratulations to the CPD Enforcers on a great win. Congratulations to the CFD Blaze on their first official NPSFL Game as the newest semi-pro football team in the NPSFL and Chicago!

We will be playing the 4th annual Gold Star Bowl on May 2nd, 3pm at St. X’s vs Cleveland. Just wanted to clear that up in case there was some confusion..
