“Hank Schueler was Strong even when his body was failing him.” I carry this statement with me when I ride. I can only hope that I’ll find a fraction of the strength Hank embodied.
I’m Jason Soo, 23 years old. I just completed graduate school and have a masters degree in computer science from IIT. I’m also a graduate of St. Pat’s high school. My father, Kenneth Soo, is a Captain with the CFD, and VP of Ignite the Spirit.
I took a 300 mile bike ride from Chicago to Frankfort Michigan a few summers ago. Back then, it was just a bunch of friends riding because we had nothing better to do with our time. More fun, then a challenge. It was a hard, but enjoyable ride.
Today, we begin a ride over 3 times that previous distance. This time, instead of riding because I’m looking for a challenge, I’m riding because so many others are faced with personal challenges. Cancer is a challenge I cannot fully understand. I cannot understand the battles and pain that cancer victims face just to get out of bed in the morning.
We are facing a challenge that lasts 1,000 miles, as we ride around Lake Michigan. Cancer victims face a challenge that lasts a lifetime.
I am enthusiastic that we are riding as a team to fight cancer. As a team, we are doing this as one, to help those that are fighting their own battle’s against a tragic disease. Others should have the opportunity to ride with me who cannot. For those who cannot be here, we ride.
“Hank Schueler was Strong even when his body was failing him.” I carry this statement with me when I ride. I can only hope that I’ll find a fraction of the strength Hank embodied.

Thank you for raising money for pediatric cancer research. Our 5 yr old grandson will be starting his third year of treatment for leukemia and is winning the battle thanks to foundations like yours and people like you. If I had know you were riding through our town, Marinette, our family would have been there to cheer you on.
You guys & gal are truly amazing! I pray for your safe journey around the lake, good weather, painless nights. We look forward to a heck of a party when you all return. I thank you for what you do and hope together we raise monies to find an end to childhood cancer. I thank your families and friends for supporting you and the sacrifices they & you have made to make this dream come true! Your truly are life savers, “Hank is so proud”. Jason I like your statement I’m going to live forever, or die tying. That’s great good luck
