The Run for the Kids 5K is held annually to benefit Illinois children that are burn victims. The Run for the Kids 5K helps fund the Burn Camp.

5K Run and Walk with Kids Dash at Chicago’s beautiful lakefront. Post Race Party with activities for children following event. All proceeds benefit pediatric charities in Illinois as well as Firefighter and Paramedic families in need.

4:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Race Day Registration & T-Shirt Pickup (no goodie bags)
4:00 – 7:30 p.m. – Kids’ Corral Activities
6:30 p.m. – 5K Run Start 6:40 p.m. – 5K Walk Start
7:30 p.m. – Kids’ Dash
7:45 – 10:00 p.m. – Post-Race Party & Raffle

  • No Goodie Bags in 2010 – We are doing our part to reduce waste.
  • All registered participants will receive a t-shirt.
  • All registered participants 21 years and older will receive 3 beer tickets.
  • All Post Race participants 21 years and older can purchase beer tickets at the event.

TIMING:
This race will be timed utilizing D-Tag™. D-Tag™ is a disposable RFID tag. Each runner is responsible for peeling the tag off their running bib and placing it on their shoe to record their time.

Race Course:
The course begins on Museum Campus Drive, heads north along the lakefront path and loops back on the harbor walk finishing back at the Post Race Party.

 

  • Course USATF Certified
  • Split times at mile one, two and Finish Line
  • Water stations will be located at the Start, 1.5 mile and Finish
  • NO in-line skates, bicycles or dogs will be allowed on course
  • All runners with strollers must start after and remain behind the runners

Awards:
Can be picked up at the Awards Tent after the race. Awards will not be mailed after event.

  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place male and female in 5 year age groups
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place male and female overall
  • 1st Place Masters male and female

Race Results:
Results will be posted at the Awards Tent after the race. Or you may visit www.mychicagoathlete.com or www.CARARuns.org.

KIDS’ CORRAL ACTIVITIES

All children must be accompanied by an adult
Kids’ DASH:
For children under the age of 12. A loop course will be staged. All children must be registered by an adult. NO EXCEPTIONS! All children must wear their Race Bib. All participants will receive an award.

Parking:
The Waldron Parking Deck. Exit Lake Shore Drive at 18th Street.

Gear Check:
Before the race, all participants may store their non-valuable items at the Gear Check Tent. WE ARE NOT responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Gear Check will be open from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
