On Nov 2, 2012 the Chicago Fire Department, The Johnson Family and the South Side community of Chicago lost a dear friend and pillar of the community, Herbie Johnson, when he died responding to a fire in the attic of a home.  Herbie, a native of the South Side, grew up in a family of eight and always knew that he wanted to be a firefighter, and on a more than one accasion he was hailed as a hero for his dedication and bravery to the job he loved. 

Ignite the Spirit is proud and honored to be offering a $2500 scholarship in Herbie Johnson's honor to be put towards the 2017 - 2018 school year.  The scholarship will be given to a St. Rita High School student who shows excellence in and out of the classroom and that displays the same great leadership qualities that made Herbie Johnson the leader he was, and his legacy will live on in this scholarship.  Herbie was a graduate of St. Rita and has always been an advid support of his alma mater.

This scholarship application will be open from September 1st through November 1st; please complete the form below to be considered for this scholarship.

NOTE*  this scholarship will be funded by Ignite the Spirit but chosen by a committee from St. Rita HIgh School.
